Wayne was born on July 11th, 1945 in Gorman, TX to Earline and Wendall Westfall. He was raised on the family peanut farm in Comanche, TX and graduated from Comanche High School in 1963. After graduation, Wayne moved to Odessa for employment. His first job was driving a truck in the oilfield before Wayne found his lifelong employer at Cummins Southern Plains for 55 years in the parts department.
Wayne married Theresa Whittington of Odessa in 1968 and had two sons, Heath and Landon Westfall. Wayne and his family were active members of First Baptist Church of Odessa where he participated in choir. He also actively participated in the Odessa High School Band Booster Club where he enjoyed cooking briskets and serving them at the annual band booster carnival fundraiser.
On September 19th, 1998, Wayne married Oleta Campbell and was married for 22 years until his passing. Wayne was an active member at Westover Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher and choir member for many years. Most recently he was a member at New Life Church and enjoyed the praise and worship time.
Wayne enjoyed spending time with family and especially his grandchildren. He was a man of many hats and enjoyed wood working and “tinkering” with many projects. He was an avid collector of many things from tools, toys, coffee cups, and anything with John Deere tractors.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Earline and Wendall Westfall and his grandson Cody Campbell. He is survived by his wife, Oleta Westfall of Odessa, his son Heath Westfall and his wife Lora of Abilene, his son Landon Westfall of Chicago, IL, daughter Susan Welch and her husband Thomas of Odessa, son Michael Campbell of Odessa, and son Thad Campbell and his wife Tanya of Temecula, CA, sister Patsy Murphree and husband Bill of Monahans, and sister Betty Guinn and husband Danny of Iredell, TX. He is also survived by his grandchildren – Nikolas Westfall, Morgana Westfall, Heather Campbell, Cheyenne Bryant, Kylie Myers, Carleigh Campbell, Taylor Campbell, Bethany Campbell, Caleb Welch, Joshua Welch, and Mikayla Welch and three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a visitation at Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home on Friday, March 11th, from 6-8 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 12th, at 1 p.m. at New Life Church at 7184 Club Drive in Odessa with Tim Halstead officiating. A graveside service will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
