Steve Franklin Fenton, 81, of Odessa passed away Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Medical Center Hospital. He was born November 19, 1933 in Gouldbusk, TX to Andrew Ellis & Louise (McCluskey) Fenton. He was a retired machinist. He served in the US Army. He was a member of Full Gospel River of Life Church.
Steve took an interest and a love of flying when he purchased his first model airplane as a young boy. He built his first airplane in his sisters garage in the late 1950’s and built a Davis DA 2A that he went on to win many trophy’s and awards. He was a pilot and loved flying. He designed and built pancake welding hoods since the early 1960’s, which he continued to build and sell until the time of his death.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Andy Fenton; & sister Helen Choate.
He is survived by his wife, Hope Fenton of Odessa, daughters, Angela Ayers & husband James & Leesha Mueller & husband Todd all of Odessa; sister, Maurine McClellan of Odessa; grandchildren, Jonathan Long of Odessa, Ashley Snow of Crane, Ian Mueller of Amarillo, Tristan Ayers of Odessa; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Alyanna & Josiah Long, Gracie & Emma Snow; nephew, Jerry Kidd and additional nieces & nephews.
Visitation with family and friends will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Don Hetherington officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
