Rogelio “Row-Hell-Lee-OH!” Salcido, 71, of Odessa passed away Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Medical Center Hospital. He was born October 29, 1944 in Pecos, TX to Guadalupe & Susana (Ortiz) Salcido. He graduated from Ector High School in 1966. He courageously served our country with the U.S. Airforce during the Vietnam War. He returned and started a family with the mother of his children Gloria where they had 28 years together before her passing. He later found love again with Angie with whom he spent his remaining years. He was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church. He was retired but enjoyed doing electrical side jobs to stay busy.
Throughout his life Rogelio was loved by many. He spent a majority of his time dedicating himself not only to his children but enjoyed coaching baseball and softball to other children as well. Anyone who knew him in his later years knew his loving dedication was to his darling Valentine.
He is preceded in death by his parents Lupe and Susana (Ortiz) Salcido, his first wife Gloria Gamboa Salcido, brother Frank Salcido, “Mama Grande” Petra Ortiz, and niece Suzette Gonzales.
Rogelio a father, grandfather, husband, brother, uncle, and friend is survived by his wife, Angie Salcido of Odessa; sons, Zebadiah Jaucee Salcido of Austin, Rogelio Frank Salcido & wife Priscilla of Odessa; their 3 children, Zachary Boss, Kassie Gloria, & Kelsie Leighann; daughter, Denise Ontiveros of Lawton, OK; her son, Isaiah Salcido; and he was uncle to Jeremiah, Ilena & Javan Gonzales.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Friday, January 29, 2016 at Primera Iglesia Bautista Church, 1333 San Andres Dr., Odessa with Rev. Robert Martinez officiating. Interment will be in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Abilene, TX 3:00 pm Friday, January 29, 2016.
