Pablo C. Vasquez of Odessa, TX passed away Tuesday, March 8 at the age of 86. He was born in Pecos, TX to the late Secundino and Delfina Vasquez. He was married to his beautiful wife, Abelina Cardenas in 1953. Together, they created a family of four children, four grandchildren, one great grandchild and a legacy of endurance and real love.
Pablo was a proud veteran who served in the Korean War. He retired in 1995 from Phillips Petroleum after 22 years of service as a truck driver. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church for more than 50 years and a member of the American Legion.
Pablo was a strong and peaceful presence wherever he went. His love for the Lord and his deep affection for his family carried him through the life he lead on this earth. There are so many wonderful words that can be used to describe the character of who Pablo was, but the favorites of his children were respected, intelligent, sharp and hard working. He was dearly loved and esteemed by the many who were fortunate enough to be a part of his life. Pablo Vasquez, or Mr. V. as he was affectionately known to his wife, will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife Abelina Vasquez; his daughter and son in law, Larry and Anita Harp, his sons Rick and Arturo Vasquez, his daughter Lydia Leatherwood, his grandchildren John and Shriena Ghazzagh, Selena and Lyndsi Vasquez and Alexandra Leatherwood and one great grandchild, Eliana Faith Ghazzagh.
Rosary services will be held at 7 pm on Thursday, March 10 at Hubbard Kelly Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, March 11 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
Special thanks to all the wonderful staff at Madison Medical Resort for their kindness and to the employees at Odessa Regional Medical Center for their care.
Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
