Melvin Hale, age 94, passed away on April 2, 2022 in Odessa, Texas. He went peacefully home into the open and loving arms of his Lord and Savior; and he is finally reunited with the love of his life, his wife Frances. They were married for 62 years. She preceded him in death on December 6, 2007.
He was born October 3, 1927 in Fairbanks, Louisiana to Carl and Jessie Hale. He was the second born of six children – three brothers and two sisters.
Melvin is survived by his two daughters, Helen Janssen and husband Richard and Brenda Strickland and husband Mike; 7 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Frances; son, Ray; grandson, Tim Overley; parents, Carl and Jessie Hale; brothers, J.C. and Bobby Hale; and sisters, Gail Fletcher and Laverne Martin.
Daddy was a true servant of God here on earth. He walked the walk and talked the talk. He was always there with a kind word or prayer ready to help. He was a true prayer warrior. He was loved by all he came in contact with. Sometimes to just see him smile with that twinkle in his eyes, his arm around you, or holding your hand or praying; it would make everything better.
He was co-owner of Knighten Machine & Service, Inc. before he retired. After his retirement, his full time job became doing service for the people of the church that he loved. He attended First Church of the Nazarene where he was a charter member.
The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, April 7, 2022 from 6-7 PM at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, April 8, 2022 at 10 AM at Grace Christian Fellowship Church with Mike Strickland officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to the nurses on the 5th floor of MCH, Dr. Lawrence Voesack and Home Hospice for their wonderful care of our Daddy.
