Melba Lisa Reed of Odessa went home to be with the Lord on February 8, 2014. She was 90 years of age. She was born in Konawa, OK on April 23, 1923 to Emmitt and Maude Turner and was the youngest of four children. Preceding her in death, were her brothers, Joe Frank and Lloyd, her sister, Dorris and her parents.
On August 12, 1943, she married the love of her life, Wallace M. Reed. Together, they had three children, all born in Odessa, Texas, her daughter, Peggy Reed Powell, sons, Guy and wife, Rhonda, of Odessa and Jon and his wife, Maggie, of Odessa.
Also, preceding Melba in death were her husband of 62 years, Wally, and her daughter, Peggy.
She is survived by 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and son-in-law, Chris Powell.
Melba lived a rich and full life but made her career taking care of her children. When they left home, she worked outside the home a short time, but liked taking care of the home for Wally. She played bridge for years and enjoyed all of her bridge friends. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church for over 20 years and a member of Life Change Baptist Church for 6 years.
Her family will receive friends at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 from 5 – 7 pm. A funeral service will be held at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at 10:00 am with Rev. Johnny Thomason officiating.
Pallbearers are Matt Reed, Jay Soules, Mac Soules, Glen Hadley, Tony Storey, and Chris Powell.
