Maxine Miller Sissel, 89, of Odessa passed away Sunday, February 13, 2010 at Parks Methodist Retirement Village. She was born May 12, 1921 in Caddo, Texas to Glenn & Vella Miller.
The family traveled the oilfields of Texas and Oklahoma. Maxine graduated high school in Fairfax, OK where she met David Sissel. They were married June 2, 1940. Two children Donelda and Bill were born while the family lived in Oklahoma. The summer of 1949 they moved to the Texas Panhandle. Maxine and David moved from Phillips, Texas to Hobbs in 1961. May 1963 they relocated to Odessa. Maxine & David cherished their life together and they loved the time shared with their family. Their retirement years were spent RVing and enjoying summer months in Ruidoso at their cabin.
After David’s death in 2000, Maxine moved to Parks Methodist Retirement Village where she lived until her death.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and husband, David William Sissel, great-grandson, Matthew McWhirter, (5) brothers-in-law, Paul Sissel & wife Sarah, F.T. Sissel & wife Mickey, Alvin Sissel & wife Norma, Arthur Sissel & John Sissel, & brother-in-law, Jimmie Brown.
She is survived by her daughter, Donelda Rausch & husband Richard, son, Bill Sissel & wife Della, grandsons, Gavin McWhirter, Brett McWhirter , David Sissel & wife Shelli, Tracy Sissel & wife Hope, Alan Sissel & wife Julie, step-grandson, Bray Gowdy & wife Joy, sister, Wilma Brown, brother-in-law, Roy Sissel & wife Leona, sisters-in-law, Darlee & Donna Sissel, great-grandchildren, Joel McWhirter & wife Priscilla & family, Drew , Lauren & Heather McWhirter, Dillion, Bradd, Luke, Ashlyn, Jacy, Blake, & Brennan Sissel, Britanee & Bryan Trammell, step-grandchildren, Christopher Gowdy, & Stephanie Ammons.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 19, 2011 at Mission Dorado Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Bratcher officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to thank the staff at Assisted Living (Parks) for their special care of Maxine.
