Mary Emma Davis, 91, of Odessa, passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021. She was born June 5, 1930, in McAdams, Mississippi to the late James Kenneth Vardaman Burrell and Dollie May Ables Burrell. She was third to the youngest of eight brothers and sisters.
She married Maurice S. Davis in Midway, Mississippi on September 10, 1948. She worked throughout her life and had various jobs; however, her favorite jobs were working at Gibson’s as a Cashier Manager for many years and later retiring from Wal-Mart where she worked as a Sporting Goods Manager. There weren’t any sporting items she wasn’t a pro at, from fishing lures to golfing equipment. She would watch sporting events all the time just to school herself. She loved the Lord with all her heart and was a member of North Side Baptist Church sixteen plus years. She also belonged to a lady’s card group called the Spady Ladies.
Momo as she was affectionately known by all enjoyed going to church, playing cards, crocheting, and spending time with family. She loved her family and was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Maurice S. Davis; grand-daughters Kristie Renee Dunn, and Kaleigh Renee Dunn; grandson Ronnie Ray Dunn; father, James Kenneth Vardaman Burrell; mother, Dollie May Ables Burrell; brothers, Alan Burrell, Baby Boy Burrell, Tommie Samuel Burrell, LeRoy Burrell and Morris Marshall Burrell; sisters, Iola Christine Burrell, and Martha Eudoria Eldridge.
Mary is survived by her daughters, Brenda Joyce Dunn and husband Merle Ray Dunn of Odessa, and Tammy Lynn Davis of Kermit. Grandchildren, Devin James Dunn of San Antonio, Emily Krislyn Armstrong of Kermit, Shawn William Scott of Austin, and Steven Boyd Armstrong of Odessa. Great Grandchildren, Emerie Renee Dunn of Andrews, Kamreigh Elaine Dunn of San Antonio and Miley Elizabeth Scott of Austin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Frank W. Wilson Funeral Home of Odessa is entrusted with arrangements. Graveside services will be Tuesday, September 14, 2021, at 11AM at Gaines County Cemetery, in Seminole, Texas with Pastor Kyle Rodgers officiating.
