Jimmie Gaylor went to be with the Lord on September 12, 2022 in Odessa, Texas. Jimmie was born on March 9, 1938 in Fort Worth, Texas. He moved to Odessa in 1950 and graduated from OHS in 1955.
Jimmie and wife Jackie were married April 4, 1969. Celebrating 52 years of marriage. Jimmie went into business as an owner of Permian Glass in 1965. After Jimmie and Jackie married, she joined him in running the business, together they celebrated 57 years in business on September 3, 2022. Son Shannon and wife Silvia now run Permian Glass, business continues.
Growing up Jimmie attended Temple Baptist Church. He was in the gospel quartet with Jerry Thorpe and two other men. He led worship at Full Gospel Business Men for three years. Also lead worship at Morningstar Fellowship, Life Unlimited, and Odessa Tabernacle for Sam Jordan.
Jimmie wrote a newspaper article called Sharing each week in the Odessa American, from that he was asked to host a program called Sharing on Sunday Morning on KOSA-TV. He was able to interview people who shared their testimonies.
Jimmie and Jackie were asked to host a TV program by Al and Tammie Cooper of Prime Time Christian Broadcasting, now God’s Learning Channel. Jimmie also hosted a program called “Ask Joe” with Joe Good. They hosted four trips to Israel for PTCB with Joe Good as leader and teacher.
Jimmie and Jackie started “In Search of Truth Ministries” in 2000. He was the leader, teacher, and mentor to people attending this study group.
Jimmie and Jackie emceed conferences for Battalion of Deborah in Fort Worth and other places for four years. Many people attended from Israel political people and ministers of all faiths. One conference was held in Israel with several Knessett members attending.
Jimmie belonged to West Texas Street Rod Club. He built and restored cars. This was the love of his life! He had many car club buddies and attended many car shows and won many trophies.
Jimmie is preceded in death by parents Pete and Helen Gaylor, brother Bill Gaylor, and son Darin Gaylor.
He is survived by his wife Jackie Gaylor, son Shannon and wife Silvia Gaylor, daughter Kristi Jarrett, all of Odessa. Grandchildren, Brittany Ray, Taylor Jarrett, Jordan Jarrett, Britton Gaylor, and Braxton Gaylor. Great grandchildren Emily, Ily, Corbin, Cambria, Levi, Lydia and Lizzy.
Visitation times for Jimmie will be Friday, September 16, 2022 from 6:00PM – 8:00PM at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors followed by a morning visitation held from 10:00AM to 1:00PM on Saturday September 17, 2022.
Graveside services will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens on Saturday September 17, 2022 at 2:00PM. Joe Good from Houston will be ministering.
Serving as pallbearers are Taylor Jarrett, Britton Gaylor, Gerardo Valenzuela, Braxton Gaylor, Jesus Dominguez and John Christmas.
