Golda Mae Baggett was born in Stephens County, Texas, on January 29, 1920. She passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2013. She was the daughter of Sarah Elizabeth McWilliams and Hollie Davis Baggett and the great-granddaughter of James Benson McCleskey, a founding settler of the Gunsight Community in Stephens County.
Golda married Troy Aubrey Taylor in Hope, Arkansas on October 22, 1938. They lived in Hope, Corpus Christi, and Eastland before settling in Odessa, Texas in 1949. Golda lived in the same home until she was forced to moved to Plano as a result of her health in 2009. Golda was a founding member of the Eisenhower Church of Christ and loved the congregation dearly. She served her lord and the congregation in many ways over the years and stayed an active member until 2009.
Golda’s greatest joy was her son, T.A. and her family. She loved housekeeping, baking and cooking, gardening, traveling and crocheting. She worked in retail during WWII and, later in the Odessa public schools as a secretary. She is a retired employee of Ruthco where she worked for 26 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband and beloved son, Troy Allan Taylor; her parents; brothers, Huie, J.B., Edward and Dale Baggett; sisters, Sylvia Hinton, Louise Curry and Velma Thomas. She is survived by her three grandchildren, Terri and Robert Thomson of Humble, Texas; Angie Taylor of Katy, Texas and Michelle and Sudhakar Reddy of Richardson, Texas; and, great-grandchildren Wesley, Travis, Chance, Jarrett Wade, Aubree and Brenna; and, numerous nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends from 6-8pm Friday, August 30, 2013 at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
Funeral service will be 3pm Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Eisenhower Church of Christ with Mike Vestal officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
