She was a much loved wife, mother, school teacher; and always was the “Keeper of the Memories”.
Born Edith Elaine Glass at home in Manor, Texas Oct 3,1924 to Samuel and Nora Glass; 5th of 6 siblings. She grew up on a farm, daughter of a sharecropper, and was a witty high school debater. She was a social worker, switchboard operator, daycare owner, before finding her love and calling as a kindergarten teacher. She taught for more than 50 years and had a powerful impact on both parents and students.
She met and married Edward Maurice Koerlin on June 3rd 1950. She is survived by her daughter, Loretta Baker, husband Joe Don, son Keith Koerlin, his wife Pam, daughter Margaret Eckhardt and her husband Charles, and son James Koerlin and wife Debbie along with 8 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and, 4 great-great grandchildren. As well as her “Chinese Granddaughter “ Sophia Chang.
The family would like to extend their deepest appreciation for the loving care Edith received from her many caregivers who were always there to support and bring her comfort. Wyndi De La Cruz in New Braunfels, Keykey Bell in McKinney, Kristen and Marisela from Lovewell Hospice, and the staff from Tribute Senior Living in Prosper. Her ministry to her caregivers was to “Always leave them smiling” when they walked away.
A Visitation will be held at 9:00am at Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home, 601 Alleghaney, Odessa, TX on February 10th, 2024 Followed by a Celebration of Life at 11:00 with interment to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens where she will be laid next to Edward, her beloved husband. We would be honored to have you celebrate her memory and tell us your story of how she impacted your life.
