Charlotte Mae Wright, 84, of Odessa passed away Monday, March 8, 2010, at Buena Vida Nursing Home. She was born April 21, 1925, in El Dorado, Arkansas, to Carroll & Rowie (Stanford) Dickinson. Mrs. Wright was a retired bookkeeper.
Mrs. Wright attended high school in Odessa, Texas, and graduated from Milby High School in Houston, Texas. She and G.B. Wright were married on June 20, 1944, in Tucson, Arizona, prior to his departure for service in World War II. After the war, the couple moved to Odessa, where his parents lived, to establish their lives. Their four children were all born in Odessa and attended public schools there. The couple owned a business, Wright’s 21st Street Service Station and Garage, for more than 30 years, until they retired.
Mr. and Mrs. Wright were avid square dancers and members of the Thunderbird Club and traveled frequently for events. As their children grew up, they became active in Boy Scouts, Permian High School and Bonham Junior High School band, twirlers and football parents groups, and Odessa YMCA judo parents group.
Mrs. Wright and her husband, G.B. Wright, celebrated their 65th anniversary in Odessa, Texas, on June 20, 2009. Their family hosted an anniversary celebration for the couple.
They were members of Highland United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Wright was preceded in death by her parents, Carroll and Rowie Dickinson.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, G. B. Wright of Odessa, Texas; four children, Carroll E. Wright of Davidsonville, Maryland, Travis D. Wright of Lubbock, Texas, Sheri L. Killion of Lubbock, Texas, and Robert K.
Wright of Rowlett, TX, (11) grandchildren, & brother, Travis Dickinson,
The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 11, 2010.at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2010 at Highland United Methodist Church with Rev. David
Weyant officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
