She was born March 3, 1939, to Paul and Ada (Philyaw) Jackson in Atlanta, TX. She was married to Richard Bretz. She was employed with ECISD as a custodian.
She loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She loved the outdoors and was known as a great “fisher-lady.” She was a regular viewer of Sunday morning church on television.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers, and two sisters.
She is survived by her son, Ben Bretz and wife, Jessica; her daughter, Connie Bell, all of Odessa; sisters, Gean Hickman of Arkansas; Debbie Stueart and husband, Van of Nashville, AR; Pewee Zimmer of Blevins, AR; Mattie Pilgrim of El Paso, TX; and Alice Owens of Blevins, AR; six grandchildren, Jessica Johnson, Justin Goodman, Mason Bell, Chance Bretz, Heather Harmann, and Tom Bostick; and four great-grandchildren, Ashlee and Katy Johnson, and Ella and Emily Harmann.
The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 13, 2012, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, May 14, 2012, at Hubbard-Kelly Chapel with Ben Bretz officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
