Aurora Alvarado, age 78, longtime resident of Odessa, passed away on July 11, 2014 at ORMC surrounded by loving family and friends.
She was born on September 29, 1935 in Presidio, Texas to Juan and Guadalupe (Carrasco) Herrera. She had two sisters, Josephine and Lala, and one brother, Juan. She married Fred Alvarado on September 30, 1956. Aurora retired after working for ECISD for 31 years. Her years after retirement were spent making friends and family feel loved and a part of her family.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister Josephine Franco, brother Juan Herrera, and son Mario Alvarado.
She is survived by her husband, Fred Alvarado of Odessa; sons, Jose Hector Alvarado and his wife Regina of Odessa; daughter-in-law, Marsha of Waco; Leroy Alvarado and his wife Sarah of Midland; and Freddy Alvarado and his wife Beth of Yukon, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Amy Bobbitt, Abby Gann, Alisha Smith, Adison Alvarado, Amanda Alvarado Sterling, Natalie Ortiz, Jonathan, Christopher, Vanessa, Laci, Alex, and Alyssa Alvarado. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, including the newest, Preslynn Ortiz.
The Rosary will be Sunday, July 13, 2014 at 7:00 p.m. at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 14, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
