It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Teresa (Tess) B. Lopez on November 4, 2024, at the age of 67. Tess was born on September 24, 1957 in Manila, Philippines, to Jorge and Consuela Signey. She was the only sister of Noel and Jon Signey, and sister in law to Myrna.
Tess met the love of her life and beloved husband, Alfredo (Fred) of 47 years. Their devotion and love for each other was evident in their home. Strong willed with unwavering determination, love and support for her family and friends were some of her best qualities. “It is better to give than to receive” was the motto that she lived by, but more than the material things she gave what mattered most, her time, kindness, laughter and love. Unbeknownst to many people, she was always ready to share her blessings not only to the people she loved here in the states, but also distant family and friends in the Philippines. She also treated her in-laws Connie, Carrie, and Joanne as her own which showed in how she maintained her connections through phone calls, text messages or social media. Her mother in law, Jane, was also another person that received her care and love, despite the distance. Tess gave her unconditional love to her sons and grandchildren, as well as her many nieces, nephews and friends who became chosen nieces and nephews.
Tess worked in computer science for EDS in Sacramento and San Diego where she received an award for her service working for the banking industry in 1992 under Ross Perot. Later, she worked for Computer Science Corporation (CSC) and Science Applications International Corp (SAIC) supporting the North County court system. Her knowledge and skills in computer science was something she was proud of and worked hard at.
Outside her career, Tess enjoyed being creative whether it was spent canvas or pottery painting, succulent arrangements, planting fruit trees, or landscaping in her beautiful backyard. She spent her many hours creating something beautiful. The many pages of her beloved books or online shopping not for herself but mostly for people she loved, were also some of the things she loved to do. Prior to her untimely demise, Tess loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed eating different dishes, cooking, reminiscing precious moments and most importantly playing with her grandchildren.
