Robert (Bob) Kingsland Seigle died peacefully in his sleep on May 27, 2016. Bob was born on June 5, 1920 in Perry, Oklahoma, to Jacob and Esther Seigle. He grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri School of Mines & Metallurgy in 1945, after having to delay graduation to work on radar for the government in Washington DC during WWII.
After graduating, he moved to New York, where he met and married Alice Yates in 1945 (d. 1998). They had two children, Diane and Richard. Bob worked at NBC in New York City as a communications engineer and helped design The Tonight Show studio in Burbank, CA. The family moved to Pasadena, California in 1955, and Bob worked in aerospace at Aerojet for 19 years. After Aerojet, Bob worked again at NBC in Burbank, and then as a Supervising Telecommunications Engineer for the County of Los Angeles Sheriff’s department. Bob always had a love for ham radio and was proficient in Morse code since the age of 15.
Bob and Alice retired to Encinitas, CA in 1986 to live closer to their two granddaughters. Bob spent 25 wonderful years in Encinitas before moving to Palm Desert, CA in 2010. He loved to dance and developed an interest in art and many other activities throughout his retirement.
Bob is survived by his children, Richard & Jerrie Seigle, and Diane & Gary Lazarus, and his grandchildren, Leah and Elyse Seigle.
