On December 3rd, 1931 MaryJo Cribbs was born in the Latrobe area hospital in Latrobe, Pennsylvania to Marie Pauline Abbaticchio Cribbs and Joseph Marion Cribbs. Mom’s Grandmother Cribbs suggested to MaryJo’s parents to name her after both of them, so they name her MaryJo.
MaryJo grew up in Latrobe, Pennsylvania until her 9th grade year was almost over. She started school at Latrobe high school with Fred Rogers and Arnold Palmer. MaryJo’s Mother and Father saved their money and bought a grocery store in Saegertown, Pennsylvania in 1946 and they named it Cribbs Store. MaryJo finished school at Saegertown High School. She graduated number two in her class in 1949,
she was involved in some clubs and she was Class Historian. She went to Thiele College in Greenville, Pennsylvania for a year. She quit college and moved back to Saegertown with her parents because she was homesick.
MaryJo married Frank Paul Andrews. They had 2 sons- William in 1955 and David in 1958. Things weren’t going very well so MaryJo, David and William left Paul to live with her Mom at Cribbs Store in Saegertown. MaryJo helped her Mom run the store while raising her two sons. In 1967 she ran into Albert Schutz again. January 10, 1968 MaryJo and Albert got married. MaryJo had a wonderful husband and William and David had a wonderful Dad. In January 1969 they all moved to Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base in Oceanside, California. The family lived on Camp Pendleton until February 1971 and moved back to Saegertown until September 1972. They moved back to Camp Pendleton until October 1975. Al retired from the Marine Corps and they bought a motorhome and traveled for six months. They came back to Oceanside and bought a house on Garfield Street in September 1976. That was MaryJo and Al’s final home.
Mom loved the roses and flowers that Al planted. She went back to school at Mira Costa College to earn her Associate’s Degree in the spring of 1981. She was an outstanding student. MaryJo made mostly straight A’s and was involved with the YMCA and The Republican Women’s Club where she was President in 1988 and 1989. MaryJo and Al enjoyed traveling in their motorhome and flying to reunions and events. MaryJo enjoyed walking to the beach, pier and harbor. She loved shopping at thrift shops,
99 Cent Stores, Dollar Stores, DD’s and The Mexican Market. She was also involved with such Charities as the Humane Society and Salvation Army.
She was preceded in death by her Mom in 1964, her Father in 1968, her Brother in 2010 and her loving husband Albert in 2015.
She is survived by her sons William Paul Andrews and David Curtis Andrews both of Oceanside California. MaryJo loved William’s dog “Razor”. MaryJo was loved by many people. She loved her family.
She was sons William and David’s Best Friend.
