Leland Clayton Ayers

Leland the past Mayor of Burbank had a full life. He was born on December 8th, 1932, in Reseda, CA to Doris and Carlton Ayers. He had two brothers and three sisters. Leland attended UCLA in the study of Engineering. During his life he achieved great success as a business owner in the electronics industry, President of the Burbank, Glendale Pasadena Airport, City Councilman and Mayor of Burbank. His achievements provided the city with Paramedic service, revitalized downtown area and a strengthened Police force. He personally negotiated the purchase of the Bob Hope International Airport from Lockheed. One of the great joys of Leland’s life was aviation. He flew out of San Fernando Airport and was Multi-Engine rated. He was an accomplished pilot and passed the love of flight on to his son and grandson.

He moved his family from Burbank to Carlsbad, CA in 1991 to build a new manufacturing facility to produce a line of Aqueous cleaning equipment used in the production of Printed Circuit Boards. This technologies was in the infant stages and he was one of the design pioneers. CFC pollution was rarely discussed, but his forward thinking left an indelible mark on our planet.

Leland is survived by his wife, Joyce, his son, Christopher and his grandchildren, Clayton and Maggie.

The service will be held on Monday, September 9th at 10:00AM Eternal Hills, Oceanside, CA.
