Kris was born in Bedford, England on October 24, 1968. At a young age, he moved with his family To the United States and grew up in
Terre Haute, Indiana. He graduated from college and medical school from Indiana University. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California, Los Angeles during which time he was awarded at Rutledge fellowship at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Dr. Ghosh then completed his fellowship in Gynecologic Oncology at the University of Minnesota. He was an assistant professor at Harvard Medical School prior to relocating to San Diego in 2002, where he founded the San Diego Center for GYN Oncology in collaboration with his sister, Dr. Sue Ghosh. He was medical director of Robotics Surgery at Palomar Medical Center. Kris furthered his education in life and obtained an MBA at the UCLA Anderson School of Management while practicing medicine.
He published more than 15 peer reviewed articles in major journals and presented internationally regarding issues of gynecologic malignancy and nutrition.
Kris was truly dedicated to helping thousands of his patients, and his commitment went beyond the stethoscope. As an avid gourmet chef, he authored a bestselling cookbook to help cancer patients have a better quality of life during treatment.
He is survived by his parents, Dr. Ardhendu and Shelly Ghosh; his sister Dr. Sue Ghosh, and his son, Nicolas.
A memorial service will be held at Eternal Hills 1999 El Camino Real, Oceanside, CA 92054, on October 16 at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Common Threads Organization (Commonthreads.org), a family-centric, hands-on cooking and nutrition program to prevent childhood obesity for kitchens in low-income, urban communities (Eternal Hills Mailing address will forward the acknowledgements).
