surrounded by his loved ones . Charles was predeceased by his wife of 67 years, Velma Cline.
He is survived by their three children, Deanna, Nancy, Charles Jr., four grandchildren, and eight
great grandchildren. He will also forever be remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews,
extended family, and dear friends.
Charles Leroy Cline was born on February 10, 1927 in Glen Hedrick, West Virginia. He
proudly served his country with the Marine Corps for over two and a half decades. He served in
combat duringWorld War II, Korea and Vietnam. He and his family resided in West Virginia,
North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Hawaii before making their final move to Oceanside, CA .
A 52 year resident of Oceanside, Charles retired from the Marine Corps. in August 1969 as
Master Sergeant (MSgt.) at Marine Corps Air Station, El Toro. MSgt. Cline’s awards and
decorations included Meritorious Mast, Letter of Recognition, Vietnam Campaign Medal,
Korean Presidential Unit Citation, Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation, United Nations Service
Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, China
Service Medal, WWII Victor Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal,
Navy Unit Commendation, Presidential Unit Citation, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy
Achievement Medal, and Chinese Liberation Medal by Chinese Consulate.
A service to celebrate and honor Charles’ life will be held on Tuesday March 20th at 1:00
P.M. at Eternal Hills Chapel in Oceanside, California. Reception will be held after the ceremony .
