Benedicto Felipe Domingo—father, grandfather, uncle and brother—passed on February 3rd , 2023, at 3:04 pm, in Vista, California. He was born in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, on March 24, 1937, the third youngest son of nine children to Felipe and Apolonio Domingo. He graduated from the University of the Philippines with a degree in criminology and was also an active member and alumni of the Alpha Phi Beta Fraternity.
At the age of 50, Benedicto Domingo accepted an early retirement from the Atlantic Richfield Company, where he had been an Information Technology Technician. He then pursued restaurant ownership for several years at the Olympian Inn Restaurant in Carson, California. Benedicto was very passionate about serving on various Southern California Filipino Associations, among them the Filipino Association Counsel of Los Angeles, the Laoagenian Association of Southern California, where he served as President for several terms, and the Ilocano National Association of Southern California, to name a few.
Ben, to most of his friends, raised generations of gamecocks and was passionate about the Sabong lifestyle. He enjoyed the pursuit of the golden ticket at the many Southern California Horse Track Venues. He spent his final years with his brother Nemiscio Domingo’s family in the Stockton, California, area and his final six months near his son in North San Diego County.
He was preceded in death by his former wife, Filipinas Palma Domingo, by only six days on January 28th, 2023. He is survived by his children Glenn Philip Domingo, Desiree’ Ann Domingo; grandchildren Addison Domingo, Alexandra Domingo, Amanda Domingo; and his siblings, Remy Erroc, Abraham Domingo, and Feliza Paulino.
Benedicto accepted Christ as his Savior on October 31st, 2021. Time was short as he attempted to rekindle his relationship with his children and grandchildren. He will be laid to rest at Eternal Hills Memorial Park, Oceanside, CA.
Services for Mr. Domingo will be held on Holy Thursday, April 6th, 2023, at 12:15 pm. New Song Community Church of Carlsbad, 3780 Pio Pico Drive, 92008. Celebration of Life immediately following at the home of Glenn, Jenifer, and Desiree’ Domingo, 1184 Magnolia Ave. Carlsbad, CA 92008.
