Billy Lee Belcher

Born February 25, 1938 in Man, WV, he was one of eleven children born to the late Elmer Belcher and Tressie Grimmette Belcher.

Billy was a member of Greenville Freewill Baptist Church. He dedicated his life to spreading the Gospel through preaching and song.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Violet Lusk Belcher; two brothers, Donnie and Ronnie Belcher; and four sisters, Geneva Molisee, Alice Wright, Barbara Robinson and Glenda Browder.

Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of nine years, Cathy Roberts Belcher; his four children, Janet Gibson and husband, Jimmy of Cyclone, Patty Paynter and husband, Michael of Prosperity, SC, Robert Belcher of Cyclone and Roberta O’Neil and husband, David of Oceana; six grandchildren, Chris Paynter and wife, Dana of FL, Matthew Brown and wife, Andrea of Kopperston, Joshua Gibson and wife, Jennifer of Elberton, GA, Kelli Echegaray and husband, Juan of Elberton, GA, Ashley Price and husband, Matt of Oceana and MacKenzie O’Neil of Oceana; thirteen great-grandchildren, Kendall, Kameron and Casey Paynter of FL; Dwayne, Anna and Robbie Gibson, Colby Vargas and Jaret and Kaitlyn Echegaray, all of Elberton, GA; Madalyn and Rylee Brown of Kopperston and Carson and Emma Price of Oceana; three brothers, Jimmy, Jackie and Velmer Belcher; a sister, Naomi Workman.; mother-in-law, Opal Roberts; and a host of family and friends.

Jimmy Gibson, Mike Paynter, David O’Neil, Matthew Brown, Joshua Gibson, Matt Price, Dwayne Gibson, Colby Vargas and Juan Echegaray will serve as pallbearers.
