Jeffrey Nadell, son of Sheldon and Mildred Nadell, passed away on January 19, 2023 at the age of 68. He is survived by his fiancé Lori Malberg, son Benjamin and his wife Jaclyn, daughter Leigh and her fiancé Andrew, brother Todd Nadell, sister Stacey Platt, cousins Laurie Krasny and Marc Brown, nephews Jason, Jordan, Alex and niece Elizabeth.
Jeff grew up in Brooklyn and Queens and, in 1969, his family moved to Oceanside, Long Island. He received a B.S. in Communications and Sociology in 1976 from SUNY Brockport and earned his Law Degree from Syracuse University in 1983. At Brockport, he was actively involved in student activities, including the college radio station, student government, and played a key role in booking notable acts for concerts. Jeff was a competitive athlete, playing both hockey and intramural basketball.
Jeff was steadfast in his life goals, and his determination was a key factor in building a successful career. His communication skills, solid work ethic, and high energy level were instrumental in his landing multiple positions, including company writer and photographer, real estate attorney, college instructor, local government administrator, member of the JCC Executive Board, Ocean Township Planning Board, and his most recent role as Senior Director of Economic and Real Estate Development with NJ Transit.
Jeff was devoted to his family and a helpful friend to all who knew him. He was known for his quick wit, ever-present sense of humor, and his ability to make people laugh with his vast repertoire of jokes. He adored the Marx Brothers and many other comedians. Jeff had a remarkable ability to connect with people. His love of comedy belied his compassionate and caring spirit, and his deep appreciation for music, art, and film.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, 2130 Route 35, Ocean Township, New Jersey 07712, immediately followed by a burial at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, 189 Gill Lane, Iselin, New Jersey 08830.
Shiva will be observed at 51 Navesink Drive, Monmouth Beach, New Jersey immediately following the burial until 7:00 PM and on Thursday between 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) in Jeff’s memory and to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org) in memory of Jeff’s father Sheldon.
