She was born and raised in Asbury Park. She was a graduate of the class of 1954 at Asbury Park High School.
She holds an Associate Degree from Rutgers University, Newark, and Monmouth College, in Retail Buying and Merchandising. Her early career as an Assistant Buyer at Steinbach Co. in Asbury Park earned her top positions as a Buyer for R.J. Goerke & Co. in Elizabeth; A. Holthausen & Co, Union City; and Parisette Boutique on 5th ave, NYC. In more recent years, Janet held key positions in executive and managerial posts as well as award winning sales with Lord & Taylor, Freehold; and Cache in Menlo Park and Freehold; as well as Sealfons in Shrewsbury. She retired in 2009, but always said “the memories linger on”.
She married her husband Paul in 1972 and have one son, Jason. Janet will be remembered for her love and devotion to her family, whether as a wife, Mother, or a friend, She loved those closest to her with a full heart. That love filled her home with warmth, beauty and cherished memories. Special to her was the extraordinary relationship she had with her identical twin sister, Norma Shechet, of Wayside, who passed in 2000. As Janet would always say, “no one knows unless you’re a twin”.
Janet is pre-deceased by her husband Paul who passed in 2010. Janet is survived by her son, Jason, Nephew Eric Shechet, and Niece Merryl Tuller, her Husband Brett Tuller of Lincroft. Also a great niece, Alexa and great nephew Zachary. The family dog, Bentley, a devoted and loving source of joy and happiness.
Services are today 11:00am, graveside at Temple Beth El Cemetery, Rt. 33, Neptune, NJ.
