Irving Reingold was born on November 13, 1921 in Newark NJ, moving to the shore area in 1946, and then to Ocean Township in 1953, where he resided until his death. Mr. Reingold attended Weequahic High School, Newark, graduating in January, 1938. He then attended Newark College of Engineering (now NJIT), graduating in June, 1942, where he was awarded his BS and Engineering Degrees. Immediately upon graduating, he was employed by Westinghouse Electric Company, in Bloomfield, for 2 years. Mr. Reingold then procured employment with the Federal Government, working at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey, for over 40 years, until his retirement in 1985. While at Fort Monmouth, he was the Deputy Director of the Electronics Technology and Device Laboratory. His engineering and supervisory duties covered a wide range of technologies; he was also the holder or co-holder of a dozen patents, and he was published extensively.
After retiring from Fort Monmouth, he was associated with the Southeastern Center for Electrical Engineering Education and Geo-Centers, Inc., working on special assignments. In 1994, he was appointed Special Course Director of the Monmouth University Center for Continuing Education and Contract Research, where he served until 2005.
Mr. Reingold was a former member of Temple Beth Miriam, Elberon, and more recently joined Congregation B’nai Israel in Rumson. From 1995 to 2006 he was a member of the board of Trustees of the Jewish Community Center of Greater Monmouth County, Deal Park, NJ.
Mr. Reingold was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Marilyn Cooper Reingold, in January, 2015, his parents, Harry and Anna, his older sister, Nettie Reingold Itkoff, (2004), and his younger brother, Frank, who was killed in action during WWII (1944).
Surviving are 2 loving daughters, Lynne Reingold-Hoo and her husband, William, of Plainsboro, and Robin Reingold-Menell, and her husband Raymond, of Ocean, 4 cherished grandchildren, Jadian Miles, Cassandra Hoo, Eric Menell, Paul Menell, and 1 great grandchild.
Graveside services will be held on Thursday, January 5th at 1:00 PM at Beth Miriam Memorial Park, Neptune, under the direction of Bloomfield Cooper Jewish Chapels, Ocean.
