Carla Altschuld, 77, Long Branch passed away unexpectedly on June 28th. Born to Ellen and Irving Brichke, Carla was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, friend and horse owner. She is survived by her husband Marc and son Brad.
Carla graduated from Skidmore College, undergraduate, and received a Masters’ Degree from Columbia University. Some of her greatest accomplishments were having her name in the book Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management by Arthur Zeikel, being president of the Parents’ Association at the Elisabeth Morrow School as well a member of the Board of Trustees.
Later in life Carla found great joy in being the owner of Brad’s Equine Adventure. Her beloved Zinger, Champagne Horizon, Champagne Bunny, Coach Adams and Marvin brought a smile to her face every time she saw them. Winters being spent traveling and staying in Hot Springs, Arkansas, brought many new friends who she loved. She will be missed by her racetrack family especially her trainer Dan Ward.
A funeral service for Carla will be held at 11am on Monday, July 1, 2024 at Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, 2130 Highway 35, Ocean, NJ 07712. Following the funeral service will be a committal service at Beth Israel Cemetery, 1098 Woodbridge Center Dr, Woodbridge Township, NJ 07095.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carla's memory may be made to Permanently Disabled Jockey Fund (PDJF) at pdjf.org.
