Barbara Zucker, a cherished resident of Little Silver, NJ, passed away peacefully at her home on the evening of December 30, 2024, at the age of 90. Born in Chicago, IL Barbara spent over 50 years in Little Silver, where she was a devoted member of Congregation B’nai Israel and an active participant in her community.
Barbara graduated from Roosevelt University with a degree in education, launching a career as an elementary school teacher before transitioning to a role as an executive administrative assistant at Fort Monmouth. Her professional life was marked by dedication and a commitment to making a difference. Also, she was a caring and engaging friend and neighbor.
Barbara shared 56 dedicated years of marriage with her late husband, Henry Zucker. Together, they built a warm and strong family, which she considered one of her greatest accomplishments. She is survived by her two daughters, Jeanne Zucker and Laura Zucker Stein, MD; her son-in-law, Joshua Stein; Jeanne’s Fiancé, Steve Ferrara, and her two cherished grandsons, Ezra and Eli Stein.
Barbara's passions enriched her life and those around her. She was an avid Mahjong player, bridge game enthusiast, a voracious reader, a binge watcher of murder mysteries, and a recent foodie who delighted in discovering new cuisines, restaurants, and eateries under the gracious care of her personal care aide, Gene Rose Henry. Her love for dogs reflected her deep compassion and nurturing spirit.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s memory are appreciated and can be sent to the Senior Citizens Activity Network of Monmouth (SCAN) or the ASPCA, organizations that resonate with her values and passions.
Barbara Zucker’s vibrant spirit, kindness, and wisdom will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
