Ronald Earl Rentz, age 73, of Ocala, Florida passed away on February 24, 2024 at E.W. & Lucille Cates House in Ocala, Florida. Ronnie was born on March 11, 1950 in Chattahoochee, Florida and was a native Floridian. He was born to the late Williford and Beatrice (Wade) Rentz. He was Baptist by faith.
Ronnie grew up in Jacksonville, Florida. He was a veteran of the United States Navy. Ronnie received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation and the Battle Efficiency Award.
He later worked for Smurfit Stone Containers for 36 years as a forklift operator.
Ronnie and his wife lived in Glen St. Mary, Florida for 17 years and then moved to a retirement community in Ocala in 2021. Ronnie loved fishing and playing canasta with friends. He loved to talk and talk and tell silly jokes with his friends. He especially loved riding his golf cart through the neighborhood with his buddy and was known as the “Mayor of Section Nine.” He never met a stranger!
He is preceded in death by his parents, Williford and Beatrice Rentz; siblings, Beverly Rentz, Larry Rentz and Terri Clark.
Ronnie is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Beverly J. Rentz; children, Daniel (Natalie) Castillo and Megan (Scott) Price and sister, Saundra Smith.
A graveside service will be at 11:30 am, Friday, March 15, 2024 at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 Southwest 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL 33513 with Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to DAV or The American Cancer Society.
