Raymond (Ray) C. Hancock, 69, of Williston, FL passed away Saturday evening December 15, 2018 with his wife at his bedside. Though he had been ill for the last couple of years, it was, nonetheless, unexpected. He was born in McIntosh, FL on January 8, 1949 to Rufus L. Hancock and Bernice E. Hancock (nee Greene). He grew up in Irvine, FL graduating from North Marion High School in 1967. After high school he was drafted into the Army serving one year in VietNam where he met his wife Ruth as a pen pal. They were subsequently married in 1971 in Illinois before returning to Ft. Lewis to finish his tour of duty. After receiving his honorable discharge from the Army he and his wife returned to Florida for a time. A business opportunity moved him to Illinois but it didn't pan out so he returned to Florida in 1976 where he went to work for Florida Pest Control, retiring in 2010 after 34 years. He enjoyed watching Gator football, fishing, model trains, planes, and automobiles as well as growing a large garden of fresh vegetables every year for the family. He is predeceased by his mother Bernice Hancock, father Rufus Hancock, and his brother Eddie Hancock. He is survived by his wife, Ruth and two daughters; Jacquelyn Alarcon (Joey), and Cindy Hancock and partner Amy Flanagan all of Ocala. He also leaves behind two sisters Betty Pompie and Teresa Doty (Roy) as well as three nieces, three great-nephews and four great nieces. There will be no viewing. Ray will be buried with military honors at the veterans cemetery in Bushnell, FL on January 4, 2019 at 10am.
