Carmelita Ann Kelly

Carmelita A. Kelly of Summerfield, Florida, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully at the age of 90, on 9May2024 in Hospice of Marion County, Grace Davis Hall House, Ocala. Born 16July1933 and raised in Bridgeport, CT, Carmelita was the daughter of Esther Frances and Dominic Anthony Mastroni. She graduated high school from Laurelton Hall in Trumbull, CT and later received her Nursing Degree. Carmelita was a compassionate nurse to the elderly and Alzheimer's patients in Bridgeport, CT. Carmelita was also a Navy Veteran.

Blessed with tremendous drive and determination, she embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, strength of spirit, and an unending generosity that could be seen in her care for her family and friends. Carmelita was an accomplished homemaker, gourmet cook, seamstress, and textile artist. Carmelita and Dan were members of the Friendship club, Veterans Club. She loved to entertain many friends and would frequently host dinner parties. She could be found preparing lavish meals for the various clubs to which they belonged and was responsible for building membership with her enthusiasm. Carmelita enjoyed travelling, from Europe to the Bermuda Islands and stateside visiting her children and grandchildren.

Carmelita is preceded by her older sister, Mary Louise Hanish (Mastroni), and younger sister and brother, Judith Karen Plourde (Mastroni), and Anthony Dominic Mastroni.

To cherish her memory, she leaves behind her beloved husband, Dan, and four children, Janice Carr of Pennsylvania, Leellen Zahorsky, Beth Ann Sheldon, Eric (Rick) (Mary) Corris, all of South Carolina, her eight grandchildren, Deva (Mims) Braden from Hawaii, Frances Carr from Pennsylvania, Jonathan (Jennifer) Chapman of Georgia, Kyle (Whitney) Chapman of Ohio, Jessica Chapman (Ryan) Scott from South Carolina, Christopher (Kimberly) Buckaloo of Florida, Heather Buckaloo from California, Heather (JT) Ellis and 9 great-grandchildren.

A funeral mass for Carmelita will be held Thursday, June 6, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Saint Mark the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church, 7081 Southeast Highway 42, Summerfield, Florida 34491. Following the funeral mass will be a committal service at 12:30 PM at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 Southwest 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida 33513.
