A memorial service for Charles will be held Tuesday, July 30, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at C. P. Bannon Mortuary, 6800 International Blvd, Oakland, CA 94621.

Charles Leroy Powell, affectionately known as Chuckie, was born on August 19, 1959, to Johnnie M Walker and Charlie Powell in San Francisco, CA. Chuckie accepted Christ early in life, guided by his late Grandfather, Rev. E. L. Evans, at the First Friendship Institutional Baptist Church in San Francisco.

Known for his humble and kind spirit, Chuckie was filled with compassion and generosity, always willing to help without expecting anything in return. He was our angel on earth, often giving the shirt off his back. Chuckie's happy-go-lucky nature, infectious laugh, and big smile matched his big heart. He loved fishing, camping, and cooking meals that rivaled his mom's. Above all, Chuckie cherished his family.

He leaves behind his wife, to cherish his precious memories his wife, Lori Powell, his Mother Johnnie Dora, his son, Eric Jones, two grandchildren, Eric "EJ" Jones and La'Niyah Jones. His stepson, Antonio Ward, sisters; Gwen, Karen, Andrea and Rochelle, his brother/cousin, Michael Robinson; nieces and nephews, Lawrence, Kendall, Timothy, Nichole (Thumper), Andre, Jackie, Charisse, Marvetta, Joni, Frederick and Darlanda, along with a host of other great nieces, nephews, friends and family
