John L. Roberts III passed away into the loving hands of the Lord Jesus Christ on August 2nd, 2024. John was born in 1947 in California. He was the son of Clovis and John Roberts Jr. From a young age, the values of excellence in hard work were instilled in him by his father.
In 1968, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served in Vietnam as a field radio operator during 1969 and 1970 with the 11th Marines and 5th Marines. John received two Purple Hearts. Following his tour in Vietnam, John served as a Drill Instructor at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego.
Throughout his life, he was devoted to working hard and giving his best to provide for his family. He worked in a variety of fields, but most notably as a Service Technician in the Operating Engineers Union for Komatsu Forklift. John had two children, his daughter Erin was born in 1976, his son Daniel in 2000. John loved to camp, fish, and hunt, and he took great enjoyment in manicuring his property. He had an easy laugh, and enjoyed a good Raiders game with a cold beer.
In approximately 2012 John was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. He would battle this disease until his passing, and remained as involved with his family as he could be while he was able. He regularly attended church with his family and was involved as a leader in his son's Boy Scout Troop even in the midst of battling his illness.
John was in all things a premier example of toughness, grit, and determination to see his goals through to the end.
He is survived by his wife Michele, his children Erin and Daniel, his grandson Shane, his sister Joyce (Tom), three nieces and a nephew, and many other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Sharon.
