Donald Lawrence West, 92, went to heaven on Saturday, August 10, 2024. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 24, 1932; Preceded in death by his parents, Bernice and Lawrence West and his sister, Arlene White.
Don was a good Christian, caring, humble, generous, outgoing, and a wonderful husband. He will be greatly missed by his spouse, Gary Johnson, with whom they shared their lives for 52 years; His brother and sister-in law, Lawrence West, Sr. and Shirley West; Many nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, and countless others who knew and loved him.
Don loved the Hammond organ, which he played back in the 1960s. He loved gardening and flowers. He designed two beautiful homes in the Lake Geneva, WI area. He and Gary also enjoyed traveling many places together. Don’s career was spent as a motorcycle claims manger, working for George F. Brown in Chicago for many years.
Visitation will be from 10-11 AM on Friday, August 16, at Chapel Hill Gardens West Funeral Home, 17w201 Roosevelt Road, Oakbrook Terrace, IL where a funeral service will take place at 11 AM officiated by Pastor Aaron James.
