Mary was born on April 7, 1933 in County Kerry Ireland. She is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 70 years, Shawn Garvey; and her loving family – sons, Thomas (Rachel), Jim, and Sean (Penny) Garvey and daughter, Mary Frances (John) O’Dwyer.
Mary is also survived by her adoring grandchildren, Katie (Ben) Howard, Dan, Kerry, and Sean Garvey, and Dylan and Brendan (Meghan) O’Dwyer; Great Grandchildren, Lydia, Caleb, Ella, and Levi Howard, as well as one brother, Ed (Mary) Lacey.
Mary was preceded in death by her sisters Phil and Josie and her grandson Kevin.
Mary and husband Shawn loved to travel, taking memorable trips in their RV and spending time in their vacation home in Boynton Beach, Florida. As members of the Windy City Set Dancers, they enjoyed visiting many beautiful locations around the world, performing Irish Set Dances.
Those who were privileged to know Mary will remember her for her kind and gentle spirit, her love for her family, and the great care she took in everything she did. The lilt in her voice, her joyous laughter and sparkling Irish eyes will be greatly missed.
Visitation for family and friends will take place Wednesday July 6, from 10 AM until time of Mass of Christian Burial 11 AM at St. Gerald Catholic Church 9310 S. 55th. Ct., Oak Lawn. Burial to follow in Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, Alsip, IL. Arrangements entrusted to Blake - Lamb Funeral Home, Oak Lawn.
