Son of the late Burton Ames and surviving, Jeannette (nee Wilcox), Jake was born on June 3, 1950 in Chicago.
As a man that lived for music, he was gifted down into his soul with the ability to write, sing, and play music. Jake also proved to be a talented painter, loved bird watching and gardening, and fully embraced every moment spent with his grandchildren. An avid storyteller, his wit and sense of humor kept people holding on to his every word.
Jake was known as a hard-working man with a passion and dedication not only to his music, but also to his carpentry craft.
Generous, influential, and jokester are a few of the words to describe him, but do not nearly come close to the kind of man he was and will forever be remembered as. He never hesitated to make a new friend or mentor musicians and carpenters across all generations.
Jack’s spirit soared to join his beloved wife of 34 years, Jennifer (nee Johnson); Brother, George Ames; Sisters, Laurie and Mary Louise Ames; and Father, Burton Ames.
As a cherished father, he leaves behind Children, Kristofer (Kerri) Ames, Melissa (Dan) Jurzec, and Elizabeth (Ray) Wollek; Grandchildren, Mckenna, Cayden, Madison, Daniel, Leo, and Evan; Mother, Jeannette Ames; Siblings, Jerrie Ames (Rusty Steiger) and Burt (Diana) Ames; Nieces & Nephews, Mandy, Russ, Katy, Lexi, Sara, Mara, Sean, Erin, Kaitlyn, Kara, and Bart; Partner for over 10 years, Lynn “Honey”; and many other loving, Family & Friends.
