Gordon John Sharp

Gordon J. Sharp, Ed. D., veteran U.S. Army Second Armored Division. Loving husband of the late Lois, nee Donovan RN MSN, his loving wife, best friend, and life partner. Loving father of Daniel J. and Nancy (Jeff) Lurquin. Happy grandfather of Morgan and Bryan Sharp and Michelle Lurquin. Loving son of the late Thomas C. and Tillie E. Sharp. Fond brother of the late Donald C. (Elaine) and the late Melvin T. (Marilyn). Brother-in-law of Jeri (Richard) Maxwell and Diane (William) Van Eck. Fond uncle of many nephews and nieces.

Gordon was a retired elementary school teacher and Department of Special Education Central Office Administrator in the Chicago Public School System. Gordon and Lois enjoyed many years of cruising on Lake Michigan aboard their 30 foot sailboat “Adventure,” and spending summers at Paw Paw Lake with their children and grandchildren. Gordon enjoyed building things. He designed and built a dining room set and living room tables from walnut, his children’s and his grandchildren’s bedroom sets and all the oak furniture for the Paw Paw Lake condo. His interests in building things changed during his later years when he joined the Fleet-4-Commanders RC Model Boat Club and began building and sailing radio controlled model sailboats.

Funeral service to begin at 9:45 AM on Friday, 5/18, from Blake-Lamb Funeral Home, 4727 W 103rd St, Oak Lawn, IL 60453 to St. Catherine of Alexandria, 10621 S Kedvale Ave, Oak Lawn, IL 60453, for a 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery to follow. Visitation will be from 3-8 PM on Thursday, 5/17, also at the Funeral Home.
