Sorry to hear about Dinny's passing. I only had the opportunity to meet him a few times when he was over visiting my grandmother Annie Dooley in Portlaw. I was chatting with my grandmother when I was last home and she said that they spoke everyday which was lovely to hear at their age.

A brief condolence. My good friend Tim Carpenter introduced me to Dennis Ross in 2007. This was in the first year we moved to Chicago (from Boston), having bought an old greystone home in Hyde Park.  At some point early on the ceiling in the living room came down, and our new contractor (Tim) suggested Dennis, who of course I did not know. Given my own background, I expected, if not the former state department official by the same name, who had tried to work on matters of Israeli-Palestinian peace, then still someone of the Jewish "tribe." To my suprise this Dennis Ross was a leprechaun-sized Irishman, and not of the sort I knew in Boston. This was an Irishman from Ireland, not young, though with the energy of a gazelle on the scaffolding he set up. He was terrific, and a highly pleasant man, with the gift of the gab, to be sure. I enjoyed meeting him in those early months in a new home, literally and figuratively. I see that his family has many pleasant memories of this evidently lovely man. Best wishes, Abraham Winitzer

Our Deepest sympathies to Aunt  Kathleen, and cousins  Mary, John, Michael, Ann and Kathy on the passing of Uncle Denny. He will be sadly missed by all. I was always proud of the fact that Denny was my Godfather and Kathleen my Godmother. What a wonderful communicator he was. Mum really enjoyed the many phonecalls over the years. We will never forget the kindness that Denny, Kathleen and family gave to us when we travelled to Chicago in 2007. He was great character, we loved hearing the stories of his life travelling to and living in Chicago. His name is spoken of daily here in Portlaw and will be for a very long time to come. Our deepest condolences to the Ross family on Dennis passing. I stayed with him in Chicago for a while back in the 80s . He was a very honourable decent man.He loved to come down to Kerry when he came to Eire .May he rest in peace.

This is hard isn't it .......when I look at Dennys pics I see the ol man Mick Ross they are the image of each other.
Uncle Denny visited us in birmingham I was about 11 I think mid 1960s - he had a big impression on me he inspired me to travel and I haven't stopped since.
Also a memorable day bringing in the hay next door to Dereens we had a great Summers day.
Denny Mick Tommy Eamon all togeather now with Nan and Grandad Jack and Mary they will have a good yarn .
Those four brothers and three sisters Annie Bridget Evelyn all from one house Dereens and now if you could put all the kids and grandkids togeather you'd fill the yard house and sheds !
How will you all fill the hole he has left?
What a great legacy all this love.

Dear Aunty Kathleen and the Ross family , my deepest sympathy on the passing of Denny. I am not sure if I can put in words how much he meant to me growing up with his visits  to Tubbercurry, My favourite  memory was him taking me to Igoes shop down the street from where we lived and he just said pick whatever you want Martina I actually could hardly believe it, he was the kindest most beautiful man and that memory is etched in my heart some 50 plus years later . May his beautiful soul rest in peace and until we meet again love Martina Ross Sheehy and Charlie, Kathleen, Charlie Jnr and Eamonn Sheehy ❤️

My Dad (Terry) and our Ross family in Birmingham helped organise myself to meet Denny in Chicago as i was traveling from Australia to America for a trip. He was a gentleman from picking me up at the train station  to welcoming me into his home to tell storys of my grandad/dad and the Ross family history. Thanks for passing on all those storys for me to take back home to Australia. I cherish that time with you and the memories/storys that you passed on. Rest in peace Denny 95 is a great innings.

After traveling across the USA we met Uncle Denny in the Chicago train station & immediately recognized him from his back as Tommy Ross’s brother. Every mannerism screamed a Ross

Sincere condolences to Kathleen and all the Ross family on the death of Denny. We have great memories of him from the time we spent in Chicago on our J1 in 2017 and will not forget the kindness Denny and Kathleen showed us - from bringing us over for dinner to the weekly calls from Denny to check in that we were ok in the city! Denny was a remarkable man and great uncle to the Port Talbot Ross's. One of the many who had an American Wake in the 1950s when he was leaving Ireland and the family thought they would never see him in Ireland again, how they were wrong. Denny worked hard, raised a fine family and returned many many times, visiting all his friends, relations and neighbours. He hosted myself and Sarah when we started our travels, in the 90's and showed us around Chicago, took us to the two St Patricks Day Parades, City and Southside, and spent many an evening at Ceilis at Gaelic Park. We encouraged his brother Tommy to see him and he spent so many memorable holidays with Denny in his later years. Kathleen and Denny were always so welcoming and we had a return visit in 2008 at the end of our Harley Trip. We also enjoyed his tours of Ireland and trips to Connemara. Thank you for everything Denny. 
You're the last of a kind and will long be remembered. We send our love and condolences to all, John and Sarah Ross, Connemara.

Mr Ross, you and Mrs Ross so very welcomed me into your family 20+ years ago, I’ll always be grateful. You were such a strong man of character, stoic, reserved and so very much loved by all of your family, near and afar.

I was so very impressed with how you so helped a homeless man, Kenny, for such a long time with food and clothes that he ended up turning his life around and ended up taking residence with his family once again. ❤️

You were also such a very kind man who I loved and respected so much. Thank you sir. You were so determined to maintain your health that you walked 4 miles everyday for decades and decades. You inspired all the younger relatives around you and it worked as evidenced by you having celebrated your 95th birthday. Well done Sir !

And you definitely did a wonderful job with all of your family, leading by example. You were such a Proud 60+ year man in the Plasters Union!

Sincere condolences to Kathleen& family and to the wider Ross family on the death of Dennis. Denny as we ( the McKims of Branchfield Co Sligo, knew him) always visited my parents,Paddy & Brigid McKim on each of his many visits home to Dereens.He was a lovely man, who remained close to his Irish roots, to his family and friends. When on a working holiday in Chicago in 1970, Denny came to visit at  Pete Connollys - friends from Sligo and Chicago and told me than his mother Sarah was my grandmother's ( Jane Ginty) bridesmaid. Denny was a kind, generous man. May he Rest in Eternal Peace.
