On March 23, 2018 we lost our dad, grandpa, and great grandpa only a month and half after losing our mom. Delores and Richard were married 72 years and together enjoyed numerous trips to other countries and many years of league bowling up into their 80’s.
Twenty four years of Richard’s life were served in the United States Air Force. He always said they were great years and he was so proud to be a part of the military. Along with his wife and children, Richard was stationed all around the world including Japan, Hawaii, England and Canada.
One of Richard’s greatest passions was fishing. If he wasn’t salmon fishing in the bay, he was sports fishing in Mexico, Costa Rica, Alaska, Canada, Venezuela and Guatemala.
Richard enjoyed his many toys including the first colored television on the block. Swimming pool, motorcycle and boats, these were all well-deserved from many years of hard work. It was a proud day when Richard received his pilot’s license.
The last 2 ½ years of Richard’s life were spent at the Community Living Center VA, San Francisco where he received wonderful care. He looked forward to weekly visits from his wife and daughters but even more so the donut holes and coffee.
Dad’s unfiltered personality was one of the things we loved the most about him. The grandkids were always cracking up. Richard loved his wife and family and enjoyed being a grandpa. Our memories of dad and grandpa are those of laughter, adventure and love.
We love you and you will forever be in all our hearts.
“Thanks for teaching us how to waterski, Dad. Love Susie and Pat.”
Richard is survived by his two daughters Patricia (Ken) Jensen, Susan (Michael) Linder; three grandchildren Jennifer (Wil) Wooden, Nicholas (Alexis) Linder, and Matthew Linder; two step-grandchildren Trina Lucas and Ken Jensen Jr; two great-grandchildren Blakely and Kyler Wooden, Five step-great grandchildren Tiffany, Brianna, and Kimberly Lucas; Korbin and Jaeda Jensen.
Richard was preceded in death by his wife Delores Fountain; two sons Richard and Thomas Fountain; his parents Claire and Jim Fountain; one brother Roger Fountain.
Graveside service with military honors on April 14, 2018 at 2p.m. Valley Memorial Park, 650 Bugeia Lane, Novato, CA 94945.
