William F. Ryan Jr.

William “Bill” Francis Ryan Jr. age 72 passed away from cancer on August 3, 2024 in Houston TX. Bill was the oldest son of the late Joan (Falvey) and William F Ryan M.D., longtime residents of Norwood and Sharon.

Bill leaves his beloved wife Janet (Sides) Ryan of Houston TX, his sister Joan (Ryan) and her husband Robin A. Parker of Norwood, and his brother Mark J. Ryan of San Francisco CA. Bill also leaves his niece Caitlin (Crowley) and her husband John J. Swigart, his nephew Daniel J. Crowley of Norwood, and two grandnieces and a grandnephew of Costa Mesa CA.

Bill Ryan was a chemical engineer and a businessman. Bill graduated from Cranwell Preparatory School in Lenox MA. He received his BS from Duke University and his MBA from Boston College.

Bill worked in Cambridge, New York City, and Belgium where he was able to use his fluent French. Bill Ryan lived in Houston TX for thirty years, working as a ship’s chandler agent for oil tankers. After retirement Bill joined the brotherhood of the Knights of Columbus and became active in organizing and working at all their official and charitable local and regional fundraising events.

A Graveside Service will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery, 990 LaGrange Street, West Roxbury, on Thursday October 24, 2024 at 11:30 AM. A reception will follow at Tavern in the Square, 985 Providence Hwy. Dedham.
