Thomas V. Norton

NORTON, Thomas Vincent, age 91, of Norwood, MA, formerly of Yarmouth, Cape Cod, MA. He was the son of the late Lawrence H. Norton of Boston and Jane M. (Crossan) Norton, of Paisley, Scotland.

He was married for 48 years to the late Helen P. (O’Neill) Norton of Cork City, Ireland. Born in Jamaica Plain, he was the eighth of eleven children, Larry, Alice, Mary, Jackie, Jane, Virginia, Bob, Loretta, and Paul. He is survived by one brother, Vincent of Quincy, and his loving partner Joyce H. (Glennon) DeCosta of Norwood. He is also survived by his four children, Mary T. Carberry of Foxboro, Joyce M. Shanahan of Clearwater, FL, Gregory T. Norton of Norton, and Eileen M. Kubanyi of Centennial, CO. He also has ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Tom grew up in Roslindale and graduated from Roslindale High School – class of 1951. He attended St. Anselm College and Boston College. He was a Korean War Veteran and a 40-year career retiree of John Hancock Life Insurance Company. He was a Eucharistic Minister and volunteered at St. Catherine of Siena Parish. He also brought Eucharist to patients of Norwood Hospital for over 20 years. Tom travelled in his life through European and Asian countries.

Visitation in the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St. (Rt.1A), NORWOOD, on Thursday, December 12, 2024 from 9:00AM-10:30AM. Funeral Mass to follow at St. Catherine of Siena, 547 Washington St., Norwood, at 11:00AM. Interment at Highland Cemetery in Norwood.
