STANTON, Sylvia M. “Britta” (Bergman) age 93, of Walpole and formerly of Norwood, passed away peacefully Fri. March 11 after a brief illness, with her daughters by her side. Beloved wife of the late Paul P. Stanton. Devoted mother of Mary E. MacLeod and her husband Bruce of Callawassie Island SC, Kathleen J. Gentle and her husband James of Plymouth, and Patricia A. McGrath of Walpole. Sister of Richard A. Bergman of Wrentham, and the late Bernard C. Bergman, Jane E. Bergman, Nancy S. Abbott, George C. Bergman and C. Ronald Bergman. Cherished grandmother of Thomas Romig, Paul Romig, Jennifer Bergman, Christopher Barnicoat, Chad McGrath and the late Daniel McGrath. Loving “grammy-mother” to Sebastian, Nicholas and Kayla Romig, Kaitlyn Romig, Vanessa McGrath, Tyler and Jocelyn McGrath, Ewan Barnicoat and Majbrit Carpenter. Aunt and Great Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Devoted friend to the late Louise Tatko. She was a retired teacher for the Walpole and Norwood Public School Systems. In her retirement, Sylvia volunteered for many years at Norwood Hospital, Kendall Whaling Musem in Sharon and New Bedford, and also taught English as a second language to many. Funeral Weds. March 16, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 24 Berwick St. NORWOOD, at 11 AM. Visiting Hours Tuesday 4 – 8 in the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole St. (Rt. 1A) NORWOOD. Private Interment in Highland Cemetery, Norwood at a later date.
