Rocco Salvatore, a devoted husband and father, passed away peacefully on May 8th 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was 92 years old.
Born on September 2, 1931, in Quincy, Massachusetts, Rocco exemplified an incredible work ethic from a young age and conducted himself with kindness and integrity. A true gentleman with an unwavering commitment to his loved ones. Carrying these qualities throughout his life, he left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Rocco met the love of his life, Becky, while they were students at Boston University. They married in 1958 and embarked on a journey filled with love, joy, and shared dreams. He served four years in the Marine Corps. at the base in Cherry Point, North Carolina and then became an aeronautical engineer at Hanscom Field Air Force Base, for 40 years before retiring . He never stopped working, spending all of his weekends doing projects around the house or working on any number of side businesses.
As a father of four, Rocco was the epitome of selflessness and dedication. He poured boundless love and wisdom into his children and grandchildren, nurturing them to be compassionate, resilient individuals.
Predeceased by his son Steven, who remained a cherished presence in Rocco’s heart as a reminder of the preciousness of life and the enduring bond between father and child.
Beyond his role as a devoted family man, Rocco was known for operating a successful furniture store named Robeck Furniture, which was a homage to Rocco and Becky’s names. Over the years he invested in many other ventures including real estate, phone businesses, and other assorted entrepreneurial endeavors. Rocco was an artist, painting landscapes in his spare time if he wasn’t doing yard work or other home projects. Whether spending time with family or engaging in his favorite pastimes, he embraced each moment with gratitude and grace.
Rocco is survived by his beloved wife, Becky; his children, Gregory and Joanne Salvatore, John and Maria Salvatore, Lara and Darrel Richardson; his grandchildren, Greg Jr., Sydni, Troy, Jake, Georgia, Zach, Nick, Alex; and three great grandchildren Greg III, Skylar, and Steven and a host of relatives and friends who will miss him dearly. Though he may no longer walk beside us, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rt. 1A) NORWOOD on Monday May 13, from 4-8 PM. A Funeral Service will be held in the Funeral Home on Tuesday May 14, at 10 AM. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery, Norwood.
