Mary Catherine Gunning

Mary Catherine (Curran) Gunning, 85, of Norwood peacefully passed on January 29, 2022 at home and surrounded by her family. Born on November 17, 1936 in South Boston to Patrick and Bridget (Casserly) Curran and beloved wife for over 23 years to the late Michael T. Gunning and close friend and soulmate to Bill Barrett for over 40 years.

Mary was passionate about all things Ireland and loved dancing and listening to Irish music. She enjoyed visiting the Irish Catskills, Saratoga, fishing trips and spending time at her home in Popponesset but loved nothing more than spending time with her three children, eleven grandchildren, and her dear friends.

Mary is survived by her loving children, Michelle Kuietauskas of Norwood, Brian Gunning and his wife Patricia of Norwood, Noreen Michienzi and her husband Vincent of Bourne, her adored grandchildren, Brianna Iessi and her husband Tom of Walpole, Sheila Walsh and her husband Daniel of Norwood, Kevin Kuietauskas and his fiancée Emily Metta of Norwood, CJ Kuietauskas of Norwood, John Gunning, Daniel Gunning and Mary Kathryn Gunning all of Norwood; Vincent, Michaela, Haley, and Victoria Michienzi all of Bourne; and her adored great grandchild, Michael Walsh of Norwood.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2022 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street, Norwood. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 11:00am at St. Catherine of Siena Parish with interment to follow at Highland Cemetery, Norwood.
