Janet M. (Hill) Kelly

KELLY, Janet M. (Hill) of Canton, passed away on Sunday March 10, 2024 at age 95.

Born in Boston she was the daughter of the late James J. and Julia A. (Fitzgerald) Hill. Janet lived most of her life in Newton and Norwood, moving to Cornerstone Assisted Living in Canton in recent years. She was a member of the class of 1946 of Sacred Heart High School in Newton and went on to graduate with honors and as president of her class from Kathleen Dell Secretarial School. Janet worked for over 38 years as an Administrative Secretary for Boston College, in the Office of University Development. It was her life’s work.

Janet was the beloved wife of the late Stephen E. “Mike” Kelly, and the devoted mother of Stephanie and her late husband Barry J. O'Leary, Janis and her late husband Jack Springham, Stephen P. Kelly and his wife Jean, and Kerry and her husband Mark Gentile. She was the sister of the late June A. (Hill) Miller.

Janet was the proud grandmother of Dacey and her husband Brian Wilson, Joseph D. O’Leary and his wife Natasha, Kelly Ann and her husband Joseph Theriault, Kerin O’Brien, Kristen Springham, Kevin Kelly and his wife Ali, James Kelly, Jillian Kelly and her partner Dave Bournazian, Nicholas Gentile and his wife Jaclynn, Breanna and her husband Sean Hartley, Nathan LeBlanc and his wife Jeannie, Emily LeBlanc, the late Michelle Amanda Gentile, great-grandmother of Ruby B. Wilson, Jordan LeBlanc, Luca and Gioia Gentile, Logan and Jackson Bournazian, Bailey and Gavin Hartley, and is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours in the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rt. 1A) NORWOOD on Thursday, March 14 from 4-7 PM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather in the Funeral Home on Friday beginning at 9 AM prior to the Funeral Mass in St. Margaret Mary Church, 845 High Street, Westwood at 10 AM. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery, Needham.
