H. Jean McDonough

H. Jean (Wood) McDonough, age 89, of Norwood, passed away on Friday, December 13, 2024.

Born in Norwood, she was the daughter of the late Herbert S. and Helen E. (Linnehan) Wood. Jean attended Norwood schools, and was a graduate of Norwood High School with the class of 1953, and worked for many years as a bookkeeper. She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan.

Jean was the beloved wife of 40 years of the late Martin J. McDonough, and the devoted mother of Mary Jean McDermott, Patricia and her late husband Philip McManus, and Barbara and her husband Michael McDonough, all of Norwood. She was the sister of Joan McGowan of Norwood, and the late Herbert Wood. Jean was the proud grandmother of Kevin McDermott and William McDermott and his wife Carlei, Timothy Hogan and his wife Emily, Katie and her husband Anthony Lemieux, and Natalie, Michael, Brian, and Allison McDonough, and is survived by six great-grandchildren, Anthony, William, Leo, Gus, Joseph, and Charles.

Visitation will be held in the Gillooly Funeral Home, 126 Walpole Street (Rt. 1A) NORWOOD on Friday December 27, 2024 from 10 -11 AM, with a Funeral Service at 11 o'clock. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery, Norwood.
