Doris MacNeil, born on July 31, 1945, in Troy, Cape Breton, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2024, in Boston, Massachusetts. The youngest of seven siblings, Doris carried the spirit of her Cape Breton roots with her throughout her life—a steadfast connection to the land and people that shaped her.
Doris settled in Massachusetts in the early 70’s and called Marlborough home for many years until recently moving to Norwood, MA to be closer to family. For over four decades, Doris worked at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Doris found delight in life’s simple joys, especially a spirited game of auction. Known for always having an ace up her sleeve, she played with a twinkle in her eye and a competitive spirit that endeared her to all at the table.
Doris is lovingly remembered by her daughter Carolyn and son Dwayne. She was a proud grandmother to Ryan (Mary) and adored her great grandchildren Parker and Graham. Her love extended far beyond immediate family; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends will forever hold fond memories of Doris.
She will be forever remembered as a woman of strength and resilience. May her memory bring comfort and inspiration to all who knew her.
A Memorial Service will be held in Cape Breton at a later time.
