Mrs. Morrison was born in New York City in 1931. The family moved to Pelham Manor where she graduated from Pelham Memorial High School. Barbara went on to attend The College of New Rochelle where she graduated in 1952 with a BA in History and minors in English and Education. She also attended SUNY, New Paltz where she graduated in 1955 with a MS in Elementary Education. She taught in New York state for seven years; moving to Boston in the fall of 1959 where she joined Ginn Publishing Company and worked as an editor of their Elementary Reader.
Barbara was married to her husband, Kenneth for 52 years. She is predeceased by Kenneth and their daughter, Susan Morrison. She is also predeceased by a sister, Joan C. Murphy of New Rochelle, New York. Mrs. Morrison is survived by her son, Peter C. Morrison and his wife, Laura of Sharon and their two children Sean and Nicole,
a brother, Frank J. Clemens and his wife Kathleen of Larchmont, New York, and many nieces, nephews and grand nephews.
Mrs. Morrison worked for the Norwood Public schools for twenty years as a substitute, tutor, and aide. She was a member of The Literacy Volunteers of Massachusetts for ten years. The Thrift Shop in Norwood was a favorite place for her to do volunteer work and she was a member of the Women’s Community Committee for thirty-five years.
A wake will be held at Gillooly Funeral Home on Thursday, July 15, 2021 from 4:30 pm – 7:30 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Timothy Church at 10:30 am on Friday, July 16, 2021. Interment is private.
