Richard was born in Cameron Mills, NY to Hazel and Glen Guiles on June 11, 1950.
Richard was an extremely hard worker and held numerous jobs which included working on many local farms throughout his life. He always liked sharing about those experiences. He was quick to lend a helping hand, he loved to laugh, being outdoors on his porch and never passed on any dessert that came his way. He will be truly missed by all.
Richard is preceded in death by his lifelong partner, Gloria Jean (Mowers) Guiles, his foster mother Brenda Burton, his daughter, SueAnn Guiles, his son Richard F. Guiles, Jr. (Tiger), his grandson, Harper Allen Guiles, as well as several brothers and sisters.
Richard is survived by his daughters, Melissa Dye Casler (Skinny) and husband Ivan, of Cuyler, Brenda Guiles (Couch Potato) and companion Mark Labonoski, of Penneville, Betsy Duerheimer (Boots) and husband Todd, of Sherburne, Shannon Kennedy of Smyrna; and a adopted daughter Jessica (Jix) Huffe and her husband David Dye of Hamilton, NY, his grandchildren, Tony, Brittney, Ronnie, Natasha, Travis, Joey, Heba, Brent, Kailyn, Hayden, Derek as well as 10 great grandchildren.
Richard’s family would like to thank Community Memorial Hospital Hamilton’s nurses and staff, Hospice, and the Sherburne Emergency Squad for their support and care of their dad.
Richard’s family will hold a celebration of life at the Sherburne American Legion on Sunday November 17, 2024 at 2pm. A private burial service will take place at Riverview Cemetery in Oxford, New York.
