I worked many years with JB at the Norwich PD.  We had a lot of laughs.  He was very fun to be around.  I'm so sorry he passed so soon.   I've been off FB for about a week and just now noticed the post where we could share memories.

Jeremy presided over my parents' (Ellen and the late George Cleveland) wedding vows. A few years later, I was working as a local journalist and I wrote a column about antiques and collectibles. Jeremy shared with me his collection (and vast knowledge) of Moxie memorabilia. I was in heaven seeing his collection and hearing the stories of how he came to own several of the pieces. Many years later we reconnected in Earlville as we practically live across the street from the parsonage. We cherished their (both Jeremy and Thuvia) time in Earlville. We didn't get to see them often, always running around for our son, but any day I could wave or say "Hi" was a blessed day. I imagine now Jeremy is surrounded by all the Moxie he can drink.

Jeremy always had a joke to tell and was always very optimistic. When he officiated a funeral, he was always very personable. He made sure to know the person and always shared amusing antecdotes. I always came away from someone's funeral, knowing them better and missing them more. Thank you for all of the times you and Thuvia helped me and my family. May you rest in peace.

So many wonderful memories....  What I will probably remember the most is the way Jeremy would say something witty with his head tipped a little, his eyebrow(s) raised, and eyes twinkling.  He was a good friend, and a terrific witness for the Lord!

I played on the Pine Crest School football team and have fond memories of Jeremy’s tremendous spirit. Although he never wore football pads, Jeremy was as much a member of the team as any player.  I believe the coach gave him the title of equipment manager, and Jeremy took his position seriously. I remember him being at every practice and helping with the Gatorade supply and willing to do whatever was asked to make life for the team and coaches easier. When I think back on those days as a player, I remember Jeremy’s daily contributions and positive spirit as much as any game we played. He truly was an inspiration to the team. 

Jeremy you were the light in so many lives. I'm so thankful for meeting you and finding out that we shared the same birthday. It was beyond special to have you perform wedding ceremony for Shawn and I. It's funny how people come in and out of your life. It's always meant to be. I am beyond sad of your passing, but I have faith that you are at Peace. Take care my birthday twin 💙

Thuvia, 
Jeremy was such an encourager to me. He often read my little devotional, "Dr. Mike's Daily Prescriptions" and would write to me and  encourage me to keep writing. We would email and share prayer concerns as well as praises. There would also be times of sharing something really funny that had happened to us during the week. I join the many, many folks who miss him and are praying much for you.

Jeremy was a dear friend, a loyal brother in Christ.  We first met around 1970 or 1971 at Camp Pemi in the beautiful White Mountains. We were both camp counselors.  I was a new believer at the time and excited to share God's Word with others, including Jeremy. He had an open heart to receive what was shared. After camp was over he returned to Florida. He had a Christian friend there who also shared Christ with him (I think his name was Jim Barnes), and it wasn't long before Jeremy came to know Christ as his personal Saviour.  About six years later it was my privilege to stand with Jeremy and Thuvia at their wedding and sometime later I was one of the speakers at Jeremy's ordination service. We've remained good friends all through these past 50+ years, although in God's providence we rarely see each other.  I thank the Lord for Jeremy and all he has meant to me these many years. Thuvia, may the Lord encourage and comfort your heart in these days.  We sorrow for sure, but not as others who have no hope.  In Christ, George Zeller, Middletown Bible Church, CT.

Jeremy was a bright and shining star walking the streets of Norwich in his job with the police department. It seems I met up with him daily in my comings and going’s with my work with the County.  I will always remember him as a friend and am sad to read of his passing.  Gaby Pysnik

I knew Jeremy for many years and he was a really kind compassionate person.  On behalf of the entire Stratton family we would like to express our deepest condolences to the Stopford family.  R.I.P. Jeremy

I am so sorry to hear of Jeremy passing. He is in a better place. I look with fond memories. Jeremy volunteered to walk in a Halloween parade with us one year as “crow warden” with family members and friend of ours as crows. He made sure I was invited to police dinners after my husband passed away. What a caring, fun individual. I know he is greatly missed.


Jeremy married me and my husband on October 1,1994 .and then did a renewal of our vows on our 10th year anniversary October 1,2004. Very nice service both times..he will be missed by so many.

I want to send my condolences to the family.  I know he will be missed. I enjoyed his preaching and his sense of humor. He was a joy to be around.  Sending thoughts and prayers to all of you.

Jeremy was my dear high school friend .  He helped connect many of us two years ago prior to what should have been our 50th High School reunion.  In 1971 he was voted "most school spirit" of our class.  That spirit stayed with him throughout his life.  I will always remember Jeremy as a caring person who reached out to others.  He had a remarkable wit about him.  Heaven has gained a wonderful soul and we will keep his memory and spirit alive within our memories. Condolences to Thuvia and her family at this time.  

Jeremy was a pastor and a friend for many, many years.  He officiated at my first wedding and the baby dedication for my first child.  Shortly after that he made a special trip to Binghamton to be at my baptism.  He had such a heart for God and was a blessing to our family in many ways.  We will keep you in our prayers, Thuvia.  May the peace of God surround you in these coming days.  

Sue and I are sad for Jeramy’s passing. We know Jeremy is with his loved Lord and savior. So how can we be sad for that! He may have not been a big man physically but he was a big man in so many ways! His heart was even bigger! Loved and respected more I could ever express!

 You had one of the best men God made , we were so pleased too have him come to Beaver Meadow Christian Church and do a service 
for us as we got the Church back up and running and all the help and advice he gave to us ,We will miss Pastor Jeremy but know he has been called home to finish his journey with Our heavenly father . My heart goes out to the family and friends. He is loved and will be missed by so many. Have known him as a Preacher most of my life. RIP

First met Jeremy when he was dog warden. I was attacked by a Doberman while out for a walk. He responded after I called and proceeded to take care of business. Better he than me, that was one nasty dog. 
  We attended several of his pastoral services during funerals. He always seem to provide what was needed to the family. That to me showed one who chose the correct profession. No doubt he and his God will have good conversations. 
   Please know Sandy and I will kee you in our thoughts and prayers.
