Mrs. Esther D. (Cosilmon) Franklin, age 84 of Oxford, NY passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019 surrounded by her family. On January 26, 1952 she married Lawrence V. Franklin. They shared a loving union of 43 years prior to his passing on April 9, 1995. Esther worked at the Norwich Shoe Factory and then retired from Norwich Eaton Pharmaceuticals where she was employed for over 25 years. After she retired she enjoyed vacations with her sister, spending time with her family and friends, coffee with her swimming group and occasional visits to the casino with her close friends. Esther leaves behind a legacy of her generosity and the love she brought to so many.
Esther is survived by her brother Kenneth Cosilmon (Sandy). Her children and their families, Julie Bautz (Bob), Terry Rose (Jimmy), Laurie Griffin (Bill), Karen Green (Tom) and Mark Franklin (Amy), her 10 grandchildren, Shawn Bautz (Jessica), Lucas Rose (Gretchen), Jacob Rose, Joey Rose, Robert Griffin, Kyle Green, Amanda Green, Ashley Dreyer, Brandon Franklin and Blaine Franklin and 8 great grandchildren Megan Bautz, Matthew Rose, Lauren Rose, Ryan Rose, Elena Rose, Alexa Rose, Joey Rose, Kaesyn Green. Survivors also include her brothers in law John Sanborn (Marie), Allen Franklin (Julia) and sister in law Gloria Davis (Doug) and several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and close friends.
Esther is predeceased by her mother and father Harry and Phoebe Cosilmon, her sisters Viola Sanborn, Dorothy Noti, Mildred Cady and brother Howard Cosilmon and her mother and father in law Theabelle and Mathew Franklin. She is also predeceased are several brother and sisters in law.
Funeral services will take place 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 13, at R.J. Fahy Funeral Home 116 N. Broad St. Norwich with Rev. Dr. David Spiegel officiating. A celebration of Esther’s life will immediately follow at the Oxford American Legion on 17 S. Washington Street, Oxford. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:00 - 5:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oxford American Legion Post 376 where she was an Auxiliary Member or Oxford Fire Department.
